Really.  Who are YOU?

A great philosopher (Popeye) had an answer,

“I am what I am”

As for YOU… What is your answer?

Who are YOU?… Really?

We’re searching for meaning.  Often through the things we do.

Those who say “I have the answer!”  and “I know who I am” I ask this,

“Who are you, REALLY?”

I recently heard an old proverb that goes like this…

“Listen to those who search for truth.  Be wary of those who claim to know it.”

It’s not that we can’t have beliefs, opinions or be passionate about either one.  It’s that the moment we think we know it all, we should step back and ask the question again because chances are that something has changed……

  • In us
  • In the situation
  • In the environment

Something, that makes the certainty of the previous answer less certain unless we’ve examined ourselves, the situation and the environment and allowed the still, soft voice in our hearts to speak and let us know how certain we are now.

There isn’t a test, psychometric, profile or tea leaf reading EVER created that can tell you who you are… REALLY.  The tests can give you a snapshot or a strategy to help you from where you were when you took the test but you’ve changed since then.

What would life be like if you listened to the information and then made a decision based upon what you feel is REALLY right for your life?

It should feel like how you feel right now.  That is to say that I’m sure that you’re not making decisions based upon what is WRONG for you.

I say all of that to say this….

Everyone, everywhere, is making the best possible decision they can with the information they have at any given moment.

The ‘best’ decision, for them, may be based upon a short term need (or fix) or maybe on making someone else happy – that, in turn, meets their need.

Either way, we’re all doing the best that we can based upon who we are in that given moment.

Puzzle me this, puzzle me that….

This brings me back to the question…  “Who are you, really?”

Are you

  • Your thoughts?
  • Your feelings?
  • Your behaviour?
  • Your decisions?
  • Your job?
  • Your role?
  • What you wear?
  • What you say?
  • What you do?

Or…  a recipe of all of the above?

I don’t have the answer for you.  I only have the question (that I, too, have to ask and re-ask)

Who are you…. Really?
